Freeport High School science teacher Peggy Parigoris was recently named a Dowling College/News 12 Long Island Educator of the Month in an in-classroom ceremony. During each school year, Dowling and News 12 pay monthly recognition to those educators who contribute to student success in a unique way.
Dr. Clyde Payne, dean of Dowling College’s School of Education, was on hand to personally present the award. “She thinks science all the time…how to present her concepts in a way her students can enjoy,” said Dr. Payne, making note of all the qualities that were considered in the stringent selection process. He also acknowledged the key role Ms. Pagoris played in developing higher level collaborative programs for her students with Hofstra University and Brookhaven National Laboratory.
Photographs taken while Dr. Payne made his presentation will be used to produce a video that will be aired on News 12 in a few weeks. All 12 of this school year’s Educators of The Month will be honored at a testimonial dinner in June 2013.
