The week of Oct. 28 through Nov. 1 has been designated by the New York State School Boards Association as School Board Recognition Week. During the Oct. 16 Board of Education meeting held at Bayview Avenue School of Arts & Sciences, Superintendent of Schools Dr. Kishore Kuncham, administrators, staff, union representatives, students and parents expressed their heartfelt appreciation to the members of the board for their dedication to the students of Freeport, their visionary leadership, and their untiring commitment to public education and student success.“Tonight is a very special evening when we recognize and express our deepest appreciation to the members of our board of education,” said Dr. Kuncham. “The members of our board are volunteer elected officials who donate a tremendous amount of time and are committed to representing our entire community. They are advocates for Freeport schools on Long Island and in Albany, where they are highly respected. I ask you to join me in thanking them for all they do for Freeport schools.” The recognition continued with a special performance by the Bayview Performers, who entertained the board and those in the audience with an enthusiastic rendition of “We Go Together” from the movie “Grease.” Representatives from central administration, the administrators association, the teachers association and the teacher aides association, as well as teaching assistants and members of the office staff, food service staff and PTA, presented tokens of appreciation, including donations made to various charities in honor of the board.
