The Freeport Union Free School District is pleased to announce that
Governor Cuomo has just signed an executive order to extend the due date
for the receipt of school taxes by 21 days for residents in
participating districts. As a result, the Freeport School District is
pleased to be able to participate and offer this extension for its
residents who have been trying to recover from the devastating impact of
both Hurricane Sandy and the Nor’easter. The legislation is pursuant to
Section 925-a of the New York State Real Property Tax Law.
The new deadline for the receipt of school taxes for the Freeport School
District will be Tuesday, Dec. 4. Payments are due to the receiver of
taxes by 5pm on the deadline date. If you have any questions regarding
this extension, please contact the office of Freeport School District’s
Executive Director for Business Mr. James Robinson at
516-867-5212. “At this time, when our families are attempting to recover and restore
their homes, it is our hope that our participation in this tax payment
extension will provide our families with some temporary relief,” stated
Superintendent of Schools Dr. Kishore Kuncham. “I would like to also
thank and acknowledge our Board of Education for approving the
district’s participation in this effort to assist our taxpayers.”
