Fourth-grade students at Archer Street School collaborated on several craft projects during their Character Fair, an event designed to reinforce desirable personality traits as part of a larger developmental program.“We celebrate all character traits, but highlight specific ones,” said school social worker Elizabeth Biscotti, who leads the program. “Those traits are respectfulness, responsibility, trustworthiness, citizenship, fairness and caring.” Students added key words to puzzles, pennants, mugs, visors and door hangers that declared their commitment to positive character traits. The goal of this exercise, and the overall program, is to instill a sense of personal betterment in students as they prepare to advance to intermediate school next fall. Students in grades K-3 participated by completing similar activities in their classrooms. Now in its seventh year, the activities are appropriately leveled for each grade, culminating with the fourth-grade fair.
