Archer Street School held its annual Spelling Bee and the students demonstrated their outstanding knowledge of vocabulary and spelling skills. All fourth grade students had an opportunity to participate. The initial contest began at the classroom level with three winners from each respective classroom participating in a final round. The final winner was given the title of Archer Street School Spelling Bee Champion.
This year’s winner, Mia Sorrentino, will continue on to the semi-finals at Nassau BOCES sponsored by The Long Island Jewish World and the Scripps Howard National Spelling Bee. In the event that Mia can not make the commitment, an alternate, Michael Nunez, will be asked to participate. Both students will receive a year long, online subscription to Kids.Encyclopedia.com for their accomplishment.
We wish them both the very best in the national competition!
